Emergency power generators are essential to the continued operations of hospitals/medical centers, communications companies, office buildings, and many other business interests during power failures.  Hospitals are "mission critical" facilities which rely heavily upon emergency power generators to provide life support operations as well as communications in the event of a major power failure.  Just as hospitals depend on emergency power generators, these emergency power generators depend on clean, dependable fuel.

Diesel fuel, by nature, starts to break down after periods of inactivity.  Diesel fuel that sits idle in generator tanks increases the chance of contaminants being overlooked until they cause generator failures during a critical scenario.  Environmental regulation requires modifications to fuel tanks that can cause these contaminants to collect around tank openings and permeate into tanks. Contaminant exposure has always been possible in any fuel storage facility.

DEVELOPING A FUEL MAINTENANCE PROGRAM IS ESSENTIAL FOR OPTIMAL GENERATOR PERFORMANCE.

Fuel (diesel and bio-fuel) is more susceptible to contamination than in years past.  Why? There are a number of reasons...

  • Fuel is processed differently, allowing more usable fuel to be created from a barrel of oil.  This is a good thing, but it can also affect the fuel's stability over time.  Simply put, molecules that have been cracked to create more usable fuel want to rejoin, which adds to the creation of sludge that can be pumped into your storage tank.
  • Microbial growth is more prevalent in today's fuel as the microbes feed on fuel and live in the fuel/water interface.  Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) levels in fuel today are better for our environment, but don't kill the microbes previously eliminated by the high sulfur content.  Dead or alive, microbial growth can cause problems in your vehicles, generators, and equipment if not removed.
  • Biofuels are helping stretch our fuel supplies and offer many advantages.  However, keeping the storage environment clean and free of water is necessary for ethanol and biodiesel to be most effective and provide the cleaner fuel and air we all desire.

Your diesel engine needs two essential supplies to be reliable -- air with an adequate oxygen content, and clean, uncontaminated fuel.  If your fuel has been stored for longer than a few months without usage, there is a danger of contamination.  Stored fuel will deteriorate over time.

Diesel Recon can restore your fuel with our safe, ecological, and cost effective methods.
